“During last year, Šabac-based factory of aluminum and PVC carpentry ‘Fenster as’ sold the carpentry worth €2m and doubled the production to 28,000 square meters of carpentry”, said the owner of that company Živanko Mihailović.
He said that, due to increase in scope of production, the new hall would be in use starting from March 2006. The construction of the hall cost about €70,000. It is equipped with the machines worth €180,000.
Use of production capacities amounts to about 64% at the moment, said Mihailović and pointed out that that was “satisfying level“ at which the factory operated profitably. The employees of “Fenster as“ produce up to 180 windows during one shift and the price of these windows is €140 - €180 per unit with 25-year guarantee. According to the words of Mihailović, the number of workers in 2005 increased from 32 to 67, whereas the average salary in that company amounts to 24,000 CSD.
“Fenster as“ was founded in 1997 as the first factory in Šabac built completely from the foreign capital. In 2003, Živanko Mihailović bought the factory from German partners. According to the estimates of that company, annual production of carpentry in Serbia amounts to about 1 million square meters, 60% of which is PVC carpentry. There are 17 companies in Šabac that deal with the production of PVC and aluminum carpentry.
