The famous Italian company Benetton will most likely become a new owner of Nis-based textile industry Niteks, while more details about this acquisition will be revealed by the end of January.

Benetton is interested in buying the property of Niteks, while the state would provide a subvention of 4 to 10 thousand euros for each newly created job. None of the competent people in the city on the Nisava and at Niteks wanted to reveal the name of the future partner, saying it is a business practice and a wish of the other side.

However, just before the New Year, Nis Mayor Milos Simonovic and Executive Director of the Directorate for City Development Branislav Jovanovic stated that "the city on the Nisava has entered the world with the South Korean company Yura, which is already building a new factory in Donje Medjurovo industrial zone, while a big surprise will happen in mid-January 2011 since a large textile company from Europe will help the city enter Europe".

Representatives of Benetton visited Niteks in mid-2010 and this company is expected to give its final answer after the state makes the decision on subventions for newly created jobs.
