Banat and Backa connected - 2,2 billion dinars worth bridge over the Tisa opened in Ada

Bridge over the River Tisa in Vojvodina municipality of Ada, which connects the northern Banat and northern Backa, worth 2.2 billion dinars, was opened to traffic on Friday 24th December.

Iron structure is present of Germany to Serbia. The bridge is 245 meters long, its width is 11 meters and the height of the pylon is 75 meters. In addition to the bridge, there was built 20 km of access roads.

The Prime Minister of Vojvodina, Bojan Pajtic said that more than 200 years there had been a need of the residents of northern Backa and North Banat to make a bridge over the Tisa.

He said that the new bridge was one of the largest and most modern bridges built in Serbia over the past few decades. He added that the bridge provided access of North Banat to Corridor 10, while North Backa closer to Romania and halves the distance between the citizens of this part of Vojvodina.

- Bridge is the momentum of further economic development and its economic, commercial and infrastructural significance is priceless - said Pajtic.

Mayor of Ada Zoltan Bilicki recalled that the bridge construction began in 2007 and he stated that this was the biggest investment in Ada for the past several decades.

He recalled that two years ago there had been signed the Protocol with representatives of Osijek and Timisoara to build a horizontal corridor through Vojvodina, which would connect it with Romania and Croatia, and he estimated that this bridge over the Tisa got extraordinary economic, cultural and tourist significance, internationally and locally.

- With the opening of the bridge to traffic, a more favorable environment has been created for new investments, and for improving of the living standards of all citizens of this part of Vojvodina - said Bilicki.

The investor of the bridge was the municipality of Ada, and the construction was funded through the Capital Investment Fund of Vojvodina.
