(Paul Riley)
The new Director of Philip Morris in Serbia is Paul Riley who has replaced former Director Skip Bornhuetter in that position, the company announced.
Branches of Philip Morris International in Serbia will change their names on January 1, 2011, so that Duvanska Industrija Nis (DIN)- Fabrika duvana AD (Tobacco Industry Nis (DIN) - Tobacco Factory AD) will be renamed into Philip Morris Operations AD, while the new name of Philip Morris Beograd DOO will be Philip Morris Services DOO.
The new Director of Philip Morris in Serbia, who came to that position from Philip Morris in Japan, assessed that that company had remained a reliable partner of the state since the privatization in 2003 and condemned the announcement of amendments to the Excise Tax Law.
- We have fulfilled all the obligations and supported all reforms by applying the best international experiences. We are disappointed with the Government of Serbia for giving an unexpected proposal for amendments to the Excise Tax Law without appropriately considering the proposal of the industry - said Riley.
- If the Parliament of Serbia adopts the Government's proposal for these amendments, a significant progress achieved over the past seven years may be endangered - Riley estimated.
Philip Morris International is the third largest investor in Serbia and its total investments since 2003 have exceeded 630 million euros.
