The ice sport fans will soon obtain new skating rink. It is the permanent facility built by hockey club "Beo star" in front of primary school "Užička republika" in Novi Beograd. The project was backed by the Ministry of Education and Sport.
The workers are hastily working on the completion of the facility, which should be put into operation in the second half of March. The skating center is intended for younger population in Novi Beograd. The general idea is that much more should be invested in the devlopment of the skating culture. Two and half years ago, the entire project was initiated by hockey player Dušan Ilić, who was the selector of the hockey national team in former Yugoslavia and coach of numerous hockey clubs all around Europe.
Collecting of necessary documenation for the facility lasted nearly 2.5 years. The hockey club will use the facility during the following 20 years, after which it will become the permanent property of the Ministry of Education and Sport.
The skating rink will meet all international standards. Its dymensions are 26 m x 56 m. That is the smalled professional ice surface, which is regulated by the international standards for organization of ice manifestations, hockey, figure skating...
In addition to the locker rooms, the new facility will also have doctor’s offices and gyms. Of course, the gym will have only machines suitable for the age of the children in primary schools. The skating rink will be opened nine months a year. Of course, once the ice is removed, the kids will be able to practice roller skates sports.
There will also be a skating school for kids, hockey school, while, over the weekends, the family skating will be organized.
