The delegation of Russian company “Gazprom” led by Dimitri Medvedev will arrive in Belgrade on Friday to talk with the officials of the Serbian Government about the issues related to the construction of the gas pipeline in Serbia. As it was unofficially said, this Russian company is interested in the construction of gas pipeline from Niš to Dimitrovgrad and gas storage near Banatski Dvor.
The Serbian officials have pointed out several times that our country required the gas storage as well as the alternative route for the import of this fuel. The construction of gas pipeline from Niš to Dimitrovgrad was discussed for almost ten years but, so far, nothing was done since this project’s realization requires 50 million USD. On the other hand, the gas storage near Banatski Dvor, of which construction will cost about €130m, is necessary for the reliable, high-quality heating of the households. The works would most likely be realized by the consortium of foreign companies. The storage Banatski Dvor should be separated from Srbijagas.
