State Secretary of Economy and Regional
Development Vesna Arsic announced that the construction of an eight-kilometer highway section Srpska Kuca–Donji Neradovac, from Bujanovac to Vranje,
would begin soon.
Speaking at the economic forum on Greek businessmen in Serbia, Arsic said that the Government of Greece had already provided a down payment of €4.3 million for the construction of that section.
As she said, the preparation works have already commenced, the section will be built by Actor from Greece, while Serbia has provided the funds for the documentation and land expropriation. The value of the project is about 22 million euros.
Ms. Arsic said that the Government of Greece intended to invest about 100 million euros in Serbia through so-called Hellenic Plan and that the construction of a section of Corridor 10 represented the beginning of implementation of that project.
- In this way Greece shows it is willing to invest in Serbia in spite of the fact that it is hit by a serious economic crisis - she said.
As it was announced at the meeting, Greece is the second largest investor in Serbia. That country has, so far, invested about 2 billion euros in our country.
