Vladimir Ognjenovic appointed as new CEO of Jat Airways

Jat Airways may get the new Director General by the end of the week. At its next session, the Government of Serbia plans to appoint current Deputy CEO Vladimir Ognjenovic as the new CEO instead of Srdjan Radovanovic.

In that way, after running the company for year and half, Radovanovic will be dismissed from that post because the people in the Government are not satisfied with his previous results.

According to the coalition agreement, the post of the CEO at Jat belongs to the Democratic Party so that it can be heard from unofficial sources that the proposal for dismissal comes from that political party. Ognjenovic is the only candidate for the position of the CEO of the national air transportation company. The Managing Board of Jat may appoint the new CEO already on Friday, but that position cannot be assumed until Radovanovic comes back from a vacation.

Although it is not a secret that Jat Airways has been experiencing serious problems over the past few years, this company was, once again, in the focus of public attention last week due to its unsettled debts, possible disconnection from the electric grid, and confiscation of airplanes.

Vladimir Ognjenovic (42) has, so far, been in the position of the Deputy CEO of Jat. He graduated from the Faculty of Transportation in Belgrade, at the Department of Air Traffic. He works at Jat Airways since 1995. He used to be the chief engineer for transport in the Operative Center, the assistant director in the Ground Affairs, and the director of commercial affairs in the branch office in Copenhagen. By the decision of the Managing Board, he was appointed as the Deputy CEO of Jat on July 1, 2009.
