Rich businessman from American State of Arizona, Mike Miller, announced that he had bought factory of laminated furniture “Sloga” in Vladičin Han at the beginning of December 2005 and that he intended to invest few millions of euros in it.
Miller points out that it is unique factory in this region in Europe and that his intention is to make "Sloga" leader in production and sale of this type of furniture.
This factory was once the most powerful in former SFRJ in field of design of laminated furniture, but, in the last few year, it is on the brink of disaster with the production and salaries cut in half and constantly blocked account due to debts that exceeded €1.5m.
With the arrival of new owner, as they say, everything in “Sloga” started to improve. The workers started to receive their salaries on time, the debts are smaller with every new day and the merchants started to come to the factory to buy its products.
"There were some protests against the price I paid for `Sloga`, but that can only appeared that way at first sight. It is true that I bought the factory for €50,000, but everybody suppresses the fact that I also bought the debt of nearly €3m and that I plan to invest few million euros in the factory", said Miller after being owner of the company for two months.
