Republic Directorate for Roads (www.dzp.co.yu) has announced the international tender for planning and construction of cloverleafs Kovilj, Beška, Inđija, Stara Pazova, Novi Banovci, Maradik and Gardinovci on Novi Sad – Belgrade highway, which should be adopted to the closed toll collecting system. The deadline for submittal of offers is extended until February 28, instead of initial January 17.
Public Company “Putevi Srbije”, in which Republic Directorate for Roads transformed, announces that the aim of the deadline extension was to make more time for interested companies to prepare their offers. Jovan Jović explains that the contractors asked not to work hastily because of the New Year’s and Christmass holidays. Since there is another similar tender for planning and construction of new Temerin’s and Kać’s cloverleafs and Novi Sad – Sever cloverleaf, which are settled on the same highway, and it is also opened prior to February 28, the deadlines for delivery of offers are now the same.

Once construction of cloverleafs is completed, Vojvodina will get the closed toll collecting system, which is better than the present open one, because the drivers will be paying for the kilometers they passed. The tender includes construction of related facilities, lighting systems, traffic-technical equipment (signs, symbols, fences...), planting of grass, landscape organization and horticultural organization of cloverleafs.
The design of the drainage system for management and treatment of shore and surface waters along highway and protection of existing water currents are in the pipeline, as well as rehabilitation and repair of damages on existing facilities (bridges and overpasses) along the highway section, the toll collecting system including all equipment for payment and traffic management and control system. The plan also includes rehabilitation of nine kilometers of lane from Temerin’s junction, future cloverleaf, to Kać’s junction, which will be reconstructed. New Novi Sad – Sever cloverleaf, planned to be built above Temerin’s cloverleaf, will connect the north of the city with the boulevard. In that way, both drivers and the city will benefit, because the travels will be more comfortable and faster.
The bidder can be from any country and the companies registered in Serbia have to have license issued from the Ministry of Capital Investments for carrying out of works on the roads and bridges. The construction works will be financed from the credit approved by European Investment Bank, European Bank for Rehabilitation and Development and Agency for Reconstruction.
The plan is that Serbia this year invests about €200m in the construction, reconstruction and rehabilitation of road from Horgoš to Belgrade. However, everything depends on whether the Government will agree on taking of foreign credits and when. In addition to the expenses of construction of 10 aforementioned cloverleafs whose value is estimated to about €45m, there is also rehabilitation of old and construction of new bridge across the Danube near Beška worth about €60m, as well as rehabilitation of old lane from Novi Sad to Belgrade. The construction of section from Novi Sad to Beška, which is also financed from the credit, is underway, but the works are late because the guarantees for credit were also late. Many obligations for small budget.
