Disruptions in supply chains, talents and human resources, as well as marketing in the field of logistics, were the leading topics of the international logistics conference LOGIC, actively attended by the representatives of cargo-partner.

This important logistics event is specific in that it brings together businesspeople, researchers, scientists and students who have exchanged the latest experiences, knowledge and ideas. As it was said at the conference, the synergy of science and the real sector is key to improving logistics practice, but also scientific research work.

In very challenging times on a global scale when all established paths in supply chains are being re-examined, logistics stands out as a leading topic in the world economy. The consequences of the COVID virus, the stagnation in the world's ports and the lack of containers are still intense, and the conflict in Ukraine further complicates the situation. In such circumstances, it is important that students, beginners in their careers, are well informed, in order to better prepare for the challenges they expect.

Speaking about the supply chain disruptions at the opening of the LOGIC conference in Belgrade, Nebojsa Djekic, director of sales and development at cargo-partner Serbia, said:

- As a solution to all global circumstances in previous years, I would like to emphasize two things: adjustment and planning. In the first "wave", we were in touch with all the offices of the cargo-partner company and in that way, they adapted to the situation and found the best solutions for their clients. Later, we made plans that were short-term, due to constant changes, but we always had something to offer clients.

Neither he, nor other speakers, could give a long-term forecast of trends in transport and logistics, but he referred to the current solutions.

- Specifically from China, we now have an efficient groupage container service that has proven to be far better than full loads. I think that it will be slightly easier in the second half of the year, because new ships will be introduced, and thus larger capacities for the goods transport - stated DjĐekic.

This economic sector is facing another major challenge. Logistics is a labor-intensive activity, the need for logistics experts is growing by 10% to 15% per year. The problem of labor shortage is evident, and today it is imperative to recognize and retain talent in their companies.

Emphasizing that the cargo-partner highly appreciates the cooperation with the faculty, and especially that they have the opportunity to communicate and exchange information with students at an early stage of their studies, Milos Bogunovic, human resources manager, presented opportunities for talent development in the company.

- We are trying to apply a specific model in resource management. We want to identify areas that require improvement through communication with employees and to focus further on them. We also spend time recruiting new staff - said Bogunovic.

Cargo-partner has been cooperating for many years with the faculties in Belgrade and Novi Sad, whose undergraduate and master students have the opportunity to upgrade their knowledge and gain practical experience in six departments (finance, sales, logistics, road, air and maritime transport ), at three locations.

Challenging times require new solutions and new forms of communication, digital networks are just that. "B2B or not to be," says Tamara Tatic, regional marketing manager for Southeast Europe at cargo-partner, adding:

- Why LinkedIn? Because it has more than 830 million members, and over 53 million companies have their pages on this network. LinkedIn is the number one platform for generating leads, and conversion rates on this platform are twice as high as any other targeting the same target group. We see that more than 40% of users are active every day.

Our company has two directions in which it is developing. The corporate LinkedIn site has the task of serving all the countries we cover, their respective services, as well as all the news and information that we want to place in this way. Another approach is to launch all locally relevant news through our brand ambassadors in local languages, because corporate channels cannot support all activities, taking into account diversity and dynamics - said Tatic and invited students to be active on this network.

Prior to the conference, the cargo-partner company also hosted students from the Faculty of Transportation, whom they helped solve specific problems and tasks, as well as prepare case studies. The results were presented to many visitors of this professional conference.

The goal of the international logistics conference LOGIC, which is being held for the 5th time at the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Engineering in Belgrade, is to connect academic research with real logistics challenges, in order to ensure full synergy of scientific and practical knowledge. The conference was attended by over 400 participants from various industries, fields and sectors - from the economy sector, educational and scientific research institutions.
