Air Serbia is celebrating its 95th anniversary with a special emblem, which will be placed on all the aircraft of the Serbian national airline carrier. Initially founded as Aeroput on June 17, 1927, Air Serbia is the eighth oldest still-operating airline carrier in the world.
Under the slogan “95 years of flying”, the emblem is designed to combine the tradition and the contemporary moment, paying homage to the rich history of the Serbian national airline. The emblem will be placed and clearly displayed on the bodies of 12 Airbus planes and five ATR planes, the national airline carrier announced.
– We have a very important anniversary ahead of us and, on that occasion, we want to express gratitude to our famous predecessors, who founded the first local airline company, Aeroput, back in 1927. We are extremely proud of the fact that only several airline carriers in the world have a history as long as our company. It is, at the same time, a great responsibility, because, as the direct successors of a 95-year tradition, we have to live up to the task at every moment – stated Jiri Marek, the CEO of Air Serbia.
In addition to creating and implementing a special emblem on its aircraft, Air Serbia will celebrate its 95th anniversary on June 17 with a range of suitable activities. The first local airline company, Aeroput, operated until 1947, when it was succeeded by Jugoslovenski aerotransport (JAT), which was transformed in 2003 into Jat Aiways, and a new chapter under the current name, Air Serbia, began in 2013.
