Faculties and Institutes in Serbia to Be Covered with Eduroam Wireless Network – Procurement Worth RSD 145.8 Million

The Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications of Serbia has published the tender for the procurement of advanced communications infrastructure and the eduroam wireless infrastructure at faculties and institutes in Serbia.

Eduroam is an international Wi-Fi roaming network for users in the high education sector.

The aim of the procurement is to fully cover the closed space with the eduroam wireless network (amphitheaters, the dean’s office, cabinets, laboratories, classrooms, reading rooms, libraries, halls…) at the faculties and institutes throughout Serbia that take part in the AMRES project (the information-communications facility “Academic Network of the Republic of Serbia”).

This kind of a distributed wireless infrastructure will have central management, for which AMRES will be responsible, the tender says.

The procurement encompasses the delivery and the construction of the wired and the eduroam wireless infrastructure inside the faculties and institutes that are users of AMRES, the upgrade of the solutions for controlling the access to the infrastructure of the wireless network and infrastructure maintenance.

It is noted that the designed WLAN for the faculties and institutes needs to be harmonized with relevant international and national standards in the fields of telecommunications and computer communications, as well as the global technological trends.

Considering, as pointed out, the great number and variety of the facilities where the works are to be done, the ministry has prepared 6 type preliminary projects – for the Faculty of Biology, the Faculty of Architecture, the Faculty of Dramatic Arts, the Institute for Philosophy and Social Theory, the Faculty of Agriculture and the Faculty of Forestry.
