Logistic port on the Arabian peninsula - cargo-partner opened branch office in Jebel Ali

The international transport and logistics company cargo-partner has opened its portals for Sea and Air Cargo in the United Arab Emirates on November 1st 2010. With its own location in the free zone in Jebel Ali in the Emirate Dubai, the forwarder strengthens its connections between Europe and Asia

More than 60 % of cargo flows into the United Arab Emirates and their neighbouring countries go via the Emirate Dubai. Jebel Ali is the world’s 6th largest sea port; and the cargo area on Dubai Airport (DXB) is ranked on 8th position worldwide in international statistics.

Additionally, Dubai will be strengthened further as a central hub on an international level. A symbol for this is the “Dubai World Central” project which is currently under construction: Its key element is the new Al-Maktoum Airport with its six runways—the airport is already in the trial run. Apart from the new airport, office space and service infrastructure as well as a Logistics City, Industrial Clusters and a giant free zone are being established.

The logistic company is opening its first location on the Arabian peninsula with 12 employees; the cargo-partner office in Jebel Ali is situated only a stone’s throw away from the Logistics City.

Stefan Krauter, CEO of the cargo-partner group, says: “Consumption in the Emirate Dubai, which depends heavily on imports, has suffered only marginally from the wave of speculations at the end of 2009. Investment activity has been reduced to a normal scale after the long-lasting super-boom. For us, besides its local market, Dubai is even more interesting as a station of transit because of its very advantageous geographical position and its unique infrastructure for air and sea cargo. Dubai is not only the gateway to the other Emirates and Gulf States, but also a place of transshipment for large parts of Eastern Africa."

As he said, "it is especially attractive to us to keep our joint SEA/AIR transports from our own offices in Asia to European recipients under our own control from A to Z."

- Here, we are already able to offer our customers for this year’s Christmas business running times reduced by almost half as compared to sea cargo as well as substantially cheaper cargo rates as compared to pure air cargo. And whoever is able to fit this into their time management can also save storage costs and CO2 emissions in comparison with mere air cargo.

The company with headquarters in Austria is planning additional logistic locations in this region.
