First Serbian Varieties of Flat Peach Recognized

At the session of the Commission for the Recognition of Stone Fruit Varieties held on April 14 at the demonstration farm of the Faculty of Agriculture – “Radmilovac”, two peach varieties were recognized, the first Serbia platycarpa, that is, flat peach varieties, as reported by the Agronews portal.

On behalf of the Department for the Recognition of Varieties of the Ministry of Agriculture, the session was attended by the secretary of the commission, Dr Aleksandar Tabakovic, according to the website of the department.

The results of the testing of four newly creates local peach varieties and one plum variety were considered at the session, and the commission made the unanimous decision to recognize two peach varieties and the plum variety. For the other two varieties, the position of the commission is that additional testing is required in the current vegetation season.

The two recognized peach varieties are the first Serbian platycarpa varieties, that is, flat peach varieties.
