Better economic cooperation between Serbia and Egypt - Agreements signed in fields of science, telecommunications and IT

- Serbian Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic opened a conference yesterday in Cairo, organized by Egypt's largest publisher Al Ahram, which also touched on cooperation between Serbia and Egypt, Serbia after the breakup of Yugoslavia, and the current process of reforms in the country on its path to the EU - it is announced on the website of the Government of Serbia.

During his two-day formal visit to Kairo, Prime Minister Cvetkovic met with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and Egyptian Prime Minister Ahmad Nazif.

Also, the Prime Minister met with Chair of the National Assembly Ahmed Fathi Sorour.

In the presence of the two prime ministers, Serbian and Egyptian representatives signed three agreements on cooperation - an Agreement on Cooperation in Science and Technology, a Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in Telecommunications, Postal Services and Information Society, and a Programme of Cooperation in Culture and Arts 2010-2013.

On behalf of Serbia, the agreements were signed by Minister of Trade and Services Slobodan Milosavljevic and Minister of Culture Nebojsa Bradic.

Cvetkovic opened a business forum of Serbia and Egypt and called on Egyptian businessmen to invest in Serbia and stressed that they should take advantage of the excellent political relations between the two countries to promote economic cooperation.


In the presence of Cvetkovic, the ministers of culture of Serbia and Egypt, Nebojsa Bradic and Farouk Hosni, opened exhibition “Tanjug: a look into the pupil of history” at the Palace of Prince Amir Taz, which marked the beginning of Serbian Culture Days in Egypt.
