EPS Signs First Agreement with Commercial Prosumer of Electricity from Renewable Sources

Elektroprivreda Srbije (EPS) has signed the first agreement with a commercial prosumer and this is the first example of a buyer also becoming a producer of electrical energy from renewable sources. On March 30, EPS signed the agreement on the full supply with the company Gruner Serbian from Vlasotince with a net calculation for the period between April 1, 2022, and December 31, 2023, EPS says in a press release.

Gruner Serbian Vlasotince, which produces equipment for the distribution of electrical energy and equipment for the management of electrical energy, has built a solar power plant on the roof of a production facility, with an installed power of 500 kW.

By connecting that solar power plant, the prosumer will use the produced electrical energy for its own consumption and deliver the surplus electrical energy to the electrical energy system. This will considerably reduce the bills for the electrical energy that Gruner Serbian used to buy in the open market, the press release says.

EPS has also signed agreements with households, which have filed requests for the signing of the agreements on the full supply with net measuring and notified the operator of the distribution system (Elektrodistribucija Srbije) of them immediately. The next step is to connect the power plant to the electrical energy system, which is the obligation of the operator of the distribution system, within five days from the signing of the agreement. After the connection is made, in the upcoming five days, the operator of the distribution system registers the end-buyer in the Register of Prosumers, which thereby acquires the status of a prosumer.
