New Building of Institute for Cardiovascular Diseases, “Dedinje 2”, Opens

The newly raised building of the Institute for Cardiovascular Diseases “Dedinje 2” has opened in Belgrade, and the first surgery in the new, modern building will be done as soon as Monday.

This institute, the most modern such institute in the region, spreads on 14,000 square meters, across four floors, with 108 hospital beds, four operating rooms and one hybrid room, as announced on the website of the Government of Serbia.

Having emphasized that as many as 47% of deaths are a consequence of heart and cardiovascular problems, the president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, asked the medical workers to do everything they can to reduce the waiting lists.

According to Vucic, who attended the opening, a total of EUR 50 million was spent on Dedinje 2, and the initial plan entailed EUR 40 million.


The director of the institute, Milovan Bojic, emphasized that the working and treatment conditions were in line with the highest world standards and that the patients would be treated even more successfully and brought back to the society in a shorter period of time.

Bojic also announced that the Dedinje 1 building would be reconstructed.
