Amstel celebrated 140th birthday

By throwing a large party in the Belgrade theater Pozoriste na Terazijama, Amstel celebrated its 140th birthday and marked this jubilee in a magnificent way in the presence of numerous journalists, friends and celebrities.

On that occasion, the history of Amstel was presented to the guests by a trio of TV and radio hosts – Ivan Ivanovic from Prva TV station and Dare and Mare from Radio S. "Amstelplov" (the Amstel time machine) and the party that lasted until well into the night were enjoyed by, among the rest, Tijana Dapcevic, Sasa Kovacevic, Marko Djurovski, Danijela Jankov, Marko Zivic, Srdjan Timarov, and many others.

Amstel, which was named after the namesake river in Netherlands, started making beer in 1870. There were 560 breweries in that country at the time, but the quality of Amstel beer made it possible for that brewer to fight the strong competition and begin exporting beer in 1883, first to England and then to Dutch colonies. It is today present in more than 70 countries.

Much has changed since 1870, but the quality and taste of Amstel beer has remained the same regardless of where you are.
