CarGo has announced that it has bought a taxi transport company and that it has filed a request for the issuing of 1,200 taxi permits to the Secretariat for Transport of the City of Belgrade. The association estimates that this is one of the best ways to resolve the protest previously announced by Belgrade taxi drivers in a peaceful way.

In the past days, taxi associations sought an increase in the prices of taxi services and the shutting down of the CarGo platform and threatened to block the streets, following which CarGo announced the organization of a counter-protest.

As said, CarGo filed the request for taxi permits on the basis of the purchase of the taxi company, which has been operating in the market since 1994. CarGo said that the purchase of the taxi company and the filing of the request for taxi permits was one of the best ways to solve the whole situation in a peaceful way.

– Taxi drivers and their public and secret leaders want us to register, but they won’t let us have permits. They tell us to register, and they won’t give taxi permits to any company. According to the latest official study, Belgrade needs an additional 1,700 taxi vehicles. CarGo today expresses readiness to register and solve this problem – the press release points out.
