The EBRD has signed two credit lines worth a total of €200 million for subsidiaries of Alpha Bank Group, Alpha Bank Romania and Alpha Bank Serbia, helping to increase the availability of financing for private businesses in the two countries.

The EBRD credit lines will provide the two banks with longer term senior financing to support their funding base, diversify and extend the maturity of their liabilities and help them continue lending to the economy.

Alpha Bank Romania will receive €150 million and Alpha Bank Serbia €50 million of new funding from the EBRD.

- The EBRD is pleased to join forces with Alpha Bank with the view to further support the real economy in Romania and Serbia - said Nick Tesseyman, EBRD Managing Director for Financial Institutions.

He added that the project with Alpha Bank would help ensure a continuous flow of credit to private companies operating in Romania and Serbia at a time when businesses continue to face difficulties in obtaining funding for their development.

This package of loans, to be provided in two equal tranches, is part of the Joint International Financial Institutions Action Plan.
