Spatial Plan that Envisaged Lithium Mine near Loznica Cancelled

Loznica City Assembly, at a today's session summoned under urgent procedure, cancelled the previously adopted Spatial plan for the city, that envisaged construction of a lithium mine in that area.

The decision by the City Assembly came as no surprise, as Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić (head of the ruling party in Loznica, as well as at the national level) on Tuesday announced that would happen.

The Spatial plan adopted earlier enabled implementation of Rio Tinto's Jadar project, with the aim of exploiting rich resources of lithium in the area.
