Government Extends Old Electricity Price in Commercial Market by Another Month

In order to avert consequences which increased electricity prices would have on the overall market in the Republic of Serbia, the government passed the Conclusion on the regulation of mutual rights and obligations between the public power utility company Elektroprivreda Srbije Beograd and buyers of electricity on the commercial market.

The conclusion enables all buyers whose contract expires on November 30, 2021, to extend the validity of the contract to December 31, 2021, the government announced.

In this way, they could keep the contract terms which they have had until now, first and foremost the price of electricity, for another 30 days.

As for the group of buyers who concluded contracts on electricity supply with Elektroprivreda Srbije that come into force on December 1, 2021, the delayed application allows for the same treatment as with the buyers who are covered by the previous decision, and with their consent, the application will be postponed to January 1, 2022.

Also, bearing in mind the drastic increase in electricity prices on stock exchanges over the past few months, the Serbian government adopted the Conclusion on electricity price for the backup electricity supply of end users who are not entitled to guaranteed supply after December 1, 2021, the government announced.

This act determines the price of electricity for the companies that would make contracts on backup supply, and which would enable their further business activity and the creation of a climate for preserving the favorable business environment in the Republic of Serbia. The established price of electricity will be applied until the situation at the relevant stock exchange gets stabilized.
