– The city is planning to build a new heating plant in Majevica, for which it has already set aside a parcel, and the system would cover the area north of Vojvode Stepe Blvd, new facilities in Evrope Blvd and a part of Jugovicevo – said Vucevic, as announced on the city’s website.
He added that he had already talked to the minister of mining and energy of Serbia, Zorana Mihajlovic, about the potential lines of support on the national and international levels for such an investment and that the PUE Novosadska toplana had sent the preliminary information to the ministry.
– The idea is for this to be the first heating plant to use biomass as fuel, while retaining the possibility of using gas as an alternative source – Vucevic says.
The plan, he added, is also to begin building a heating plant in Miseluk in the next two to three years, so as to enable central heating there as well. The location now features the RTV building and the new hospital.
