Competition announced for architectural solution for Science Promotion Center - Deadline for submission of works is December 1, 2010

The Ministry of Science and Technological Development announced an international competition on September 15th for the preparation of the preliminary architectural design for the new building of the Science Promotion Center in Block 39 in New Belgrade and the preliminary development plan for the Science and Art Campus in Block 39. The deadline for submission of entries is December 1, 2010.

In accordance with UNESCO's recommendations, the competition was announced by the Ministry of Science and Technological Development in association with the Association of Architects of Serbia, the Association of Belgrade Architects and UIA (International Union of Architects).

The purpose of the architectural competition is to choose, on the basis of a comparison of designs submitted, the best entry by a participant capable of creating the most suitable design in the fulfillment of the orderer’s requirements as laid down in the terms and conditions, programme and relevant documents, simultaneously pointing to the urban planning development opportunities for the Science and Art Campus.

The jury is composed of the following people: Bozidar Djelic, the Minister of Science and Technological Development of the Republic of Serbia, or his representative Darko Bukic, Adviser to the Minister and PIU (Project Implementation Unit) Director, Roberto Simon from Brazil, Dorte Mandrup from Denmark, Gunter Katherl from Austria, Ourania Kloutsinioti from Greece, Belgrade Town Architect Dejan Vasovic, President of the Association of Serbian Architects Jovan Mitrovic.

The deputies are Miomir Korac from Serbia and Nicholas de Monchaux from the USA.

A total amount of 100,000 euros will be available for prizes and honorary mentions. It will be distributed as follows: 60,000 euros for the 1st prize, 20,000 euros for the 2nd prize, 10,000 euros for the 3rd prize, while two honorary mentions will get 5,000 euros each.
