Inner Main Road in Belgrade to Change Route – Direct Exit to Highway from Topcider Tunnel

The route of the Inner Main Semi-Ring Road (UMP), according to the announcements of the deputy mayor of Belgrade, Goran Vesic, has gone through several changes, especially when it comes to the Topcider Tunnel and the connection with Autokomanda.

The draft Detailed Regulation Plan previously planned for the UMO route from the Topcider Tunnel to continue down the bridge across the Autokomanda roundabout, with a length of around 400 meters.

– Above the exit portal of the Topcider Tunnel, a roundabout is planned, connecting the traffic routes along the stretch of Kneza Aleksandra Karadjordjevica Blvd, Maglajska Street, Ljutice Bogdana Street, Humska Street and Dinarska Street, with the Autokomanda roundabout – the earlier draft DRP said.

However, according to the announcements made by Vesic, the bridge that was supposed to have an exit near the Partizan Stadium is now to go along a different route after all.

– The second tunnel that is planned, which we are solving now, is the Topcider Tunnel. When you’re exiting to the other side on the Topcider hill, there will now be a bridge there, and it was supposed to link to the Partizan Stadium area, but now it will not do so, so that the Autokomanda area would not be overloaded. Instead, there will be an interchange practically by the highway. You will be able to go down the Sava Bridge beneath Topcider and exit directly to the highway, moving right down toward Smederevska Palanka – Vesic said in an interview for Ekspres.
