Mihajlovic: Green Agenda Necessary and a New Model of Serbia’s Growth

The deputy prime minister and minister of energy of Serbia, Zorana Mihajlovic, announced today, on the occasion of the 26th UN Climate Change Conference in Glasgow, that a green agenda was necessary, that it would provide enough energy sources and a healthier living environment for Serbia and that it was a new model of growth.

The minister said that the Green Agenda and energy security would be the main topics at the conference.

She pointed out that the Green Agenda dealt with the questions of reducing carbon dioxide emissions and emission of other harmful gases that have existed in the atmosphere for hundreds of years and also with the question of how the current and the future development would adapt to a healthy and sustainable development through the use of new technologies.

– Everything we do today and everything that is agreed is a new, sustainable and green future for the generations that are coming – the minister said.

Mihajlovic said that, for Serbia, and for other countries as well, those topics were an introduction into important changes in energy, sustainable agriculture, sustainable construction and the reduction of transportation emissions.

She pointed out that Serbia would adapt the Green Agenda to its situation and that the goal was for as much as possible to be done in each area so that we would develop in a healthy way.

Mihajlovic emphasized that everyone who thinks that Serbia does not need the Green Agenda was wrong, because, as she says, it is a new model of growth, which will enable sufficient quantities of water, energy and a healthy environment.
