Electricity bills in envelopes - Power consumption check to be possible via SMS and Internet soon

- By the end of this year, all consumers in Serbia will start receiving electricity bills in envelopes in order for the secrecy of data to be ensured - it was said today in the Power Supply Company of Belgrade (EDB).
- An envelope with the logo of EDB, in which a bill is placed, costs that company RSD 1.5, but that expense is not included in the bills sent to consumers - EDB CEO Stevan Milicevic said at a press conference.
Most citizens on the territory of Belgrade have already received bills in envelopes.
That innovation is introduced because the law stipulates that companies must ensure the secrecy of data when delivering bills.
Bills for consumed electric energy have not been changed and they are the same in all municipalities in the country.
Printing and packing of electricity bills cost EDB about RSD 20 per bill, RSD 17.6 of which are paid to PTT for mail delivery.
In order to improve the service, EDB also introduces a possibility of the electricity bill check via SMS and Internet.
- A consumer only need to leave his or her cell phone number in EDB to receive a text message with the information on the consumed electricity - said Milicevic.
Consumers will not be charged for sending a text message to EDB since it has been agreed so with mobile operators.
The citizens can get all the information on their electricity bills by calling phone number 6994, which is the same for all networks of mobile operators.
EDB buys electricity from the Electric Power Company of Serbia (EPS) and it only distributes the power.
