De Filippis: Production of two new monovulumes in Kragujevac

- Fiat will be producing two new models of monovolume automobile with five and seven seats in Kragujevac - said Giovanni De Filippis, the Director General of Fiat Automobili Srbija.
He told daily paper Danas that trial production and assembly line production of Fiat's two new models based on a small platform, that is, on the platform of Punto Evo, would be organized in 2011 and the first half of 2012, respectively.
De Filippis said those vehicles were the most modern in their segment and added that the five-seat vehicle would be a city car, while the one with seven seats would be a family car.
"The plan is that 200,000 automobiles be produced in Kragujevac in the first phase and we assume that over 95% of that production will be exported to the markets all around the world", he said, pointing out that there was a possibility of increasing the annual production capacity to 300,000 automobiles with additional investments.
De Filippis confirmed that Fiat's overall investment in Kragujevac would be significantly bigger than initially planned and that the company would invest 944 million euros, 100m more than planned.
