Construction of bypass around Vrsac starts on September 17

Minister of Infrastructure Milutin Mrkonjic announced on September 10 that the construction of a bypass around Vrsac would begin on September 17, when Corridor 11 road through Serbia would be promoted in the presence of European officials.

- The Vrsac bypass will cost around €15 million and half of that amount will be invested now in construction of that infrastructure facility, for which domestic companies have been contracted - Mrkonjic said while visiting the works on the northern branch of Corridor 10.

He said it was another confirmation of the government’s wish to provide as much work as possible for Serbian construction companies.

- In response to demands by construction companies for the government to increase the volume of work for them, the government decided to begin constructing a section of Corridor 11 from Belgrade to Vrsac and off to Timisoara, and in that sense it will begin works on this bypass next week - the Minister underlined.

Mrkonjic explained that the government had earmarked funds for the bypass, a part of the future Corridor 11, which would connect Romania, Serbia, Montenegro and Italy.

- On this occasion, a promotion of the entire corridor will be held in Vrsac in the presence of Italian, Romanian, Bulgarian and Croatian ministers and ambassadors from European countries taking part in the project - Mrkonjic concluded.
