The construction of the new customs office of the Port of Belgrade has begun - The goal is to move freight traffic away from the city center

The construction of the new customs office of the Port of Belgrade has begun in the area between the highway and Kvantaska pijaca. The new customs house will cover more than 5,500 m2, and its construction will enable the relocation of trucks from the city center, announced the deputy mayor of Belgrade, Goran Vesic.

- The new customs house is much more important than the facility itself, because in the future it will prevent trucks from entering the city center. By doing so, we will give an additional contribution to protection against pollution, considering that truck freight traffic was a big air pollutant - the deputy mayor pointed out, and Beoinfo reports.

He specified that the new facility will have more than 260 parking spaces for trucks, as well as a new space for the PUE Parking Service tow-away truck, a customer center, as well as hangars for repairing freight forwarders.

- When we finish it, there will be no more heavy truck traffic within the city itself. Parking Service will sign a memorandum of cooperation with customs in the next ten days, so that truck traffic will be directed to bypasses - said the director of PUE Parking Service Andrija Cupkovic and added that the new facility will also have electric chargers.
