Master Plan for sustainable development of NP Fruska Gora to be finished prior to end of June 2011

Vojvodina Prime Minister Dr. Bojan Pajtic and his associates visited yesterday (August 25, 2010) public company National Park Fruska Gora where a meeting was held of the Task force for preparation of the Master Plan for sustainable development of Fruska Gora prior to 2022.

On the occasion of this first meeting of its members, it was decided that the expert activities for making of the Master Plan should start already in early October, so that the document could be defined by the end of the year, as well as the guidelines concerning overall terms of sustainable development of Fruska Gora over next twenty years.

- We want Fruska Gora to be the driving force of Srem and Vojvodina. The task of our province, which took over the founding rights over National Park Fruska Gora this year, is to mediate in attracting investments that will be intended for its development. Also, we will work on development of its tourist potentials, preservation of cultural and historical values, and environment protection. Fruska Gora with its monasteries, which represent a unique cultural and historical whole whose spiritual and tourist role is of exceptional importance, and its characteristic ambient - 14 lakes that rarely anyone knows about, and other natural potentials, should get the conditions that such area deserves - said Pajtic.

According tot he words of the Prime Minister of the Government of Vojvodina, in addition to attracting of investments in development of National Park Fruska Gora, the dynamics by which the Master Plan will be defined by the end of June was also determined at the meeting, as well as that the Provincial Government and all municipalities that gravitate towards Fruska Gora will be able to bring their development plans in accord with each other on the basis of the Master Plan.

These significant activities will be executed with the help of experts and in association with the University in Novi Sad. Besides protection and improvement of environment, other priorities in regard to further development of Fruska Gora are the fields of forestry, fishing, viticulture, energy, as well as all forms of tourism. Significant attention will also be paid to the project for construction of a tunnel through Fruska Gora, which would resolve all current problems with traffic, as well as the problem of ecological protection of National Park Fruska Gora.
