Romuliana Days at Roman Imperial Palace from August 20 to 25

Between August 20 and 25, the cultural-educational event Romuliana Days is being held in the archaeological location Gamzigrad near Zajecar. The event aims to teach the local populace and visitors from other parts of the country and foreign visitors about the history and the art of Felix Romuliana – the ancient Roman imperial palace, which is on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

During this six-day event, two creative-educational workshops for children will be held, as announced in the press release. The first one is “Ozivi lutku” – where children will learn about puppetry, acquire puppet-making skills and perform the “Legenda o caru Galeriju” play. At the second workshop, students from Zajecar schools will learn about the pottery discovered at the Felix Romuliana archaeological site and they will also try their hand at producing objects from clay, which will be exhibited on the final day of the event.

The final contest of the European Debate School, organized by EU Info Center for Belgrade, will be organized in the atrium of the imperial palace on August 21, at 7 PM. Young speakers will compete presenting the topic titled “The Roman Empire and the European Civilization”, where they will draw parallels between the modern Europe and the ancient empire that set the foundations for the entire continent.

The event program also includes presentations on the archaeology and the history of Felix Romuliana and the Roman Empire, which will be made by professors from the Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade.

The evening program is reserved for films and plays.
