The shares of the Petroleum Industry of Serbia (NIS) have been registered with the Central Securities Registry, which is one of the last steps in the process whose final goal is the appearance of this issuer on the Belgrade Stock Exchange.

- NIS made the decision in late June on transformation into an open joint-stock company, but the appearance of this company on the Belgrade Stock Exchange was postponed until late August or early September for technical reasons - it was announced earlier by the government officials in the Privatization Agency.

Russian Gazpromneft is the owner of 51% of shares (83,160,800), while the Republic of Serbia kept 29.9% of shares in its possession. Remaining shares, 19.1% of them, are in the possession of former and current employees of this company, as well as in the hands of a group of juristic and physical persons who acquired these shares in over-the-counter (OTC) trading at the time when NIS was a closed joint-stock company. Although the media announced on several occasions that large number of shareholders had already sold the shares of NIS in OTC trading, as well as that numerous companies from Cyprus and other exotic islands were included in the process, the data provided by the Central Registry show that the size of such trading in shares of NIS was rather insignificant. The biggest number of shares of NIS has been bought by the custody account of Vojvodjanska Banka - about 0.015% or 25,000 shares, while the second largest buyer of these securities is broker company M&V Investments, which has bought 0.005% or about 8,000 shares.
