Gorenje took over Asko - Swedish manufacturer of household appliances in possession of Slovenians

- Gorenje Group has taken over Asko, Swedish manufacturer of household appliances, with the aim of increasing its share in Nordic and North American markets - the largest manufacturer of household appliances in Slovenia announced today (July 28, 2010).
Gorenje, which also operates in Serbia, has not revealed the price it paid for 100% of Asko.
- By taking over Asko, which was in the possession of Italian Antonio Merloni Group, Gorenje gets access to the markets of Nordic countries and North America, as well as Australia - it is pointed out in the statement issued by the Velenje-based company.
Asko produces dishwashers, washing machines and tumblers in Sweden and ranges, ovens and irons in Finland.
Gorenje, the second largest Slovenian exporter, right behind Renault from Novo Mesto, registered sales income of 1.2 billion euros in 2009.
Gorenje Group, which is a holding comprising 47 companies and one of the eight largest manufacturers of household appliances in Europe, exports 84% of its production.
