MK Mountain Resort CEO Nikola Avram said that the company had invested about 8.5 million euros in modernization of adaptation of the tourist complex on Kopaonik mountain to the date, as well as that it planned to invest additional 3.5 million euros in it prior to 2012.

In late 2008, MK Mountain Resort bought Grand hotel, Suncani Vrhovi (Sunny Peaks) suite complex and Zvrk restaurant for 23 million euros from company International CG.

Avram said to the press on Kopaonik that there had been about 8,500 overnight stays in the complex in May and June, about 30% more than in the same period in 2009. He said it was the result of the improved offer and better prices.

According to him, the aim is that Kopaonik becomes a part of regional tourist offer after the abolition of visa requirements. Avram added that the prices were lower than in Austria and Slovenia, but higher than in mountain resorts in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Bulgaria.

Estimating that the prices had not been realistic before, he said that they would also be lowered the next winter tourist season, so that the half board for the New Year's Eve, which is the most expensive arrangement, would cost about EUR 110 instead of EUR 140, which was the price in 2009.

- Prices in summer season are up to 50% lower than during winter - Avram pointed out.

He also said that the company's aim was to increase the number of foreign tourists who had spent about 600 nights in the complex on Kopaonik in May and June.

Avram announced that he would be working on attracting tourists from Russia and added that the agreement was expected to be signed in September on introduction of charter flight between Moscow and Nis, which would enable stay of about 150 tourists in the hotel complex at any moment.

He added that the company's intention was that 85% of products served in its facilities be made in the neighboring places. As he pointed out, that increases the costs, but also positively affects economic development of that part of Serbia.

Avram reminded that the trend in tourism was that guests should drink and eat the products from the area where the tourist complex was situated.

As he said, people in the company expect the investment to pay off in eight years.

MK Mountain Resort is one of the organizers of the Days of Blueberry event, which has its premiere on Kopaonik this year.

The manifestation will also include a contest for the best blueberry product.
