Students of the Technical Faculty "Mihajlo Pupin" from Zrenjanin Vice-Champions of the World in the Software Design


Students of the Technical Faculty "Mihajlo Pupin", Zrenjanin (University of Novi Sad) were vice-champions in the world of software design. TFZR team consisting of Zlatibor Veljkovic, Milan Kojadinovic, Goran Nikolic and Vanja Zavišin with Dejan Lacmanovic as a mentor, managed at their way of competition in the world finals of "Imagine Cup" competition in Warsaw, to skip even 66 teams from as many countries, and to place themselves at the second place in the world in their category. This is a success that so far no team from Serbia was never achieved.
After two excellent presentations, provided TFZR place first in twelve, and in six of the best teams in the competition. Judges from all continents have been impressed with their project "Neural Communicator", which allows people with the most serious forms of paralysis to communicate with the outside world via specialized commercial equipment and upon very affordable pricing and software of our team.
- Students who are now vice-champions of the world, by mixture of imagination and knowledge, shaped the project that has a very serious purpose for the benefit of mankind. We, in Microsoft firmly believe that these young people and projects will be part of our future, and that our task is to take stake in it now. We do this through our academic programs and initiatives, participation in education about how technology can contribute to a better life for all of us - said General Director of Microsoft of Serbia Vladan Zivanovic.
Competition "Imagine Cup" is the world's largest student technology competition, that company "Microsoft" is being organized since 2003. and in which participate hundreds of thousands of students around the world. So far, over 300 thousand students from more than 100 countries presented their ideas on the "Imagine Cup". This contest is a unique opportunity for young people full of enthusiasm, knowledge and creativity of their craft show to the most important companies, in which one day they might work.
The company that recognizes the importance of investing in young people is certainly the "Telekom Serbia". For the second consecutive year, the company supports "Imagine Cup" and shares the vision of creating a better future and more prosperity for the young people in Serbia.
It is important to note that in the first 6 in the world in the category of "Digital Media" reached the team "TeamWerkz" from the Singidunum University of Belgrade, consisting of Goran Jovanovic and Nikola Vukovic. The competition was tasked to develop for 30 hours, record and assembling the short film, which had for the topic one of the United Nations Millennium Development Goals. The team well done the task, recording the video that had for the theme the need of education for all young people on the planet. This video was one of the most popular in the finals, and was placed in the first 6 and also represents a remarkable success for the Serbia.
To the finalists in the Warsaw Opera, via video link, spoke, at the closing ceremony, the U.S. First Lady, Michelle Obama, and wished to the competitors good luck in the new season of "Imagine Cup" competition, and welcome to the capital of the world finals in the year 2011th in New York, United States.
