Costs of Container Transport from Asia to Europe Exceed USD 10,000

According to the statistical reports, the pertinent index has shown that the costs of the transport of goods in shipping containers from Asia and Europe have for the first time exceeded USD 10,000, gCaptain writes.

The index of consulting company Drewry, which specializes in maritime trade, shows that the price of a container transported from Shanghai to Rotterdam has grown to USD 10,174. That is 3.1% more than a week before and 485% more compared to a year before.

The entire index of the main eight navigation routes grew by 2%, that is, to USD 6,257 compared to a week before, and was 293% higher than a year ago.

In the USA, but also in other states, many shipping companies had to pay more than USD 10,000 per container plus substantial additional payments, in order to ensure a timely delivery.
