Zijin Invested Around USD 5.55 Million in Geological Research in 2020 – Reserves of 340,000 Tons of Copper and 12 Tons of Gold Estimated

Last year, Zijin invested around USD 5.55 million in geological research. The investment has paid off, because the company is on its way to increasing the resources by another 57.76 million tons, with copper content of over 0.3%. According to geologists’ estimates, there’s around 340,000 tons of copper and 12 tons of gold there.

Geological research and investments in this expensive, but profitable in the long run, project continue this year as well. For that reason, a new drill for exploratory boring has arrived to the Majdanpek mine recently.

The new Epiroc drill, which is already being used at the Majdanpek mine, features a simple design, adapted to operations in inaccessible terrains, and is reliable and easy to service. It can reach to a depth of 250 meters, although it is most frequently used at surface cuts at depths of 100 to 150 meters. The holes it makes, although not too deep, can also serve as mine holes in preparatory drilling-mine works.
