Production of 1,000 "Belarus" tractors in Novi Sad in 2011 - About EUR 2m for first phase of factory construction

The representatives of the Government of Vojvodina and the Ministry of Trade of Belarus signed the statement today (June 24, 2010) in Novi Sad about commencement of construction of the unit for production of "Belarus" tractors, in the first phase of which about 2 million euros are going to be invested.

As it was announced on that occasion, the plan is that about 1,000 tractors be assembled in 2011 in the production unit that will be situated on the grounds of Novi Sad-based company Petar Drapšin. The production is expected to be tripled in 2014.

Two kinds of "Belarus" tractors should be assembled in Novi Sad, and the plan is that a large number of partner companies from Serbia take part in the production by supplying necessary semi-finished products to that factory.

The Prime Minister of Vojvodina, Bojan Pajtić, said that the Province would give EUR 1,300 for every newly created job because the tractor industry was of great importance to Vojvodina and it provided opportunity for revival of the whole production branch.
