MRKONJIĆ: About 22 billion euros for infrastructure based on Transport Master Plan

- Serbia plans to invest 22 billion euros in development of traffic infrastructure on the basis of the Transport Master Plan for the period 2009-2027 - Serbian Infrastructure Minister Milutin Mrkonijć announced today (June 24, 2010).
He said at the presentation of the Plan in the Palace of Serbia that the money for those projects should be provided from the budget and the loan of the European Investment Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the World Bank, and other financial institutions.
- The plan is that 13.7 billion euros be invested in construction and development of road network, 7.5 billion euros should be spent on the railways, 475 million euros on water traffic, 376 million euros on air traffic, while 136 million euros should be invested in combined transport - it was said at the presentation.
Vincent Degert, Head of the European Union Delegation to Serbia, said that the Transport Master Plan would provide Serbia with a clear framework plan and the list of priorities for investments in infrastructure within the next two decades.
- Investments in infrastructure are crucial for Serbia because they are required to attract foreign investors - said Degert.
