New Belgrade Gets Japanese Cherry Tree Park – Olympic Rings Symbolizing Connection of Serbia and Japan

(Japanese Cherry Tree Park) The Olympic Committee of Serbia and the Japanese Business Alliance in Serbia, with the support of the Embassy of Japan and the City of Belgrade, have presented Olympic rings made of Japanese cherry trees. This way, citizens of Serbia can now practice the famous Japanese custom of watching the blossoming of this tree – hanami.

The Olympic Committee of Serbia organized this campaign to the end of creating a healthier and more beautiful environment, the press release points out. The direct occasion are the Olympic Games, which are held this year in Tokyo, whereas the trees were donated by the members of the Japanese Business Alliance as a token of eternal friendship between Serbia and Japan.

The Olympic Committee of Serbia and the Japanese Business Alliance in Serbia invite all citizens to visit this park, located in New Belgrade, between the Gazela bridge and the Old Sava Bridge.
