Americans obtained license for researches and exploitation of copper on Kosovo

American company Phelps Dodge had obtained license for research and exploitation of copper in north-east part of the province, the Commission for Kosovo’s mines and minerals announced. The license was issued last week and, according to it, the work on exploitation of copper should start in 90 days. The representatives of Phelps Dodge announced that they were willing to invest €500m in Kosovo and Metohia. Company Phelps Dodge has its headquarters in Phoenix, Arizona. It is the biggest world manufacturer of copper and it employs over 15,500 workers all around the world. So far, copper has not been exploited on Kosmet. Independent commission for mines and minerals issues licenses for exploitation of ores in Province. The Commission has issued around 60 licenses worth about 13.5 billion EUR since April.
