The price of bitcoin reached a record USD 62,575, with which the world's largest cryptocurrency continued the rise started in 2021 towards the new heights.

The world's most popular digital coin has more than doubled its value so far this year due to its growing acceptance as an investment asset and as a means of payment, as investors search for high-yield assets in a low-interest environment, Reuters reports.

Large companies, such as New York's oldest bank BNY Mellon, MasterCard and Tesla, are among those that have accepted payment or invested in cryptocurrencies.
