“Igalo-based villa ‘Galeb’, which was built in 1976 for the needs of Josip Broz Tito, former president of SFRJ, on about 5,000 square meters, will soon get the 5th renter for the last 12 years”, Dr Zoran Paunović from Igalo’s Institute "Dr Simo Milošević", which runs the villa, announced. The Villa includes several spacious parlors, Marshal’s room, saunas, swimming pools for therapy and restaurant for 50 persons. It has been visited by over 50,000 tourists in the last 12 years, mostly from Russia and countries of former Yugoslavia.
On September 17, 1991, Lord Karington had the meeting with Slobodan Milošević, Franjo Tuđman and Veljko Kadijević in villa “Galeb”. On that occasion, he tried to persuade them to prevent disintegration of the country. The first renter (1993) was an American businessman born in Serbia, Ben Stanojević , whereas the last one was Russian agency "Travel center", the property of businessman from Budva Krsta Marković. Once again, the most interested in rental of Tito’s villa are foreign agencies.
