New technologies on pig farm - Doža Đerđ put power plant for air conditioning in operation

Company Doža Đerđ in Bačka Topola, which is engaged in fodder production and pig fattening, put a power plant in operation yesterday (June 8, 2010), which should provide necessary energy for air conditioning of all facilities within the complex during the whole year.

CEO Milan Ćatić specified that about RSD 160m had been invested in that plant and that the Government of AP Vojvodina had provided RSD 60m through the Provincial Secretariat for Science and Technology Development for realization of the unit.

- In this way the energy consumption will be reduced, especially in the new stables where hogs and piglets will be cold in the summer and hot in the winter from now on - he said.

The power plant will be primarily using hay as fuel.

It was said at the opening ceremony that, thanks to that investment, 25 people will get jobs, while another 140 people will be indirectly engaged through various forms of cooperation.

The power plant was ceremoniously put in operation in the presence of the Prime Minister of AP Vojvodina, Dr. Bojan Pajtić, who said on that occasion that Doža Đerđ was an example of a good privatization.

- Instead of visiting an old pig farm, we came here today to see the new, air-conditioned cattle breeding halls being built. These halls will be heated in the winter and cooled in the summer thanks to the unit for renewable energy sources - said Pajtić.
