One billion euros for infrastructure every year - General Master Plan finished

- Serbian Minister of Infrastructure Milutin Mrkonjić said yesterday (May 26, 2010) that the General Master Plan for traffic infrastructure in Serbia had been finished and that it was in accordance with the programme for the country's development prior to end of the next decade - it is stated on the website of the Serbian Government.

Mrkonjić pointed out that aforementioned programme, which included road, railway, air and water traffic, anticipated annual investments of one billion euros in that period.

He announced that, within the next ten years, road and railway Corridor 10 would be finished and investments would be made in the rivers Danube and Sava, as well as in 13 ports that would be prepared, in agreement with the EU, for greater volume of traffic.

The Minister pointed out that the priority in road traffic in the next decade would be the construction of Belgrade–Čačak highway and other projects that concerned high-speed roads.

The initiative for making of the General Master Plan was given by the EU two years ago - said Mrkonjić and explained that that document was the base for traffic infrastructure projects during the next ten or fifteen years.
