The European Commission approved over EUR 55 million for the reconstruction and replacement of over 68 kilometers of the heating pipeline system in Zagreb yesterday.

The money, Hina reports, comes from the Fund for Regional Development.

– The cohesion policy once again proves its value by increasing the energy efficiency in order to improve the quality of life and, at the same time, protect the environment and support the green transition – the EC announced.

The new heating pipeline system will reduce the loss of heating and water in Zagreb and also become compatible with renewable heating resources.

It will also reduce the maintenance costs and the consumption of natural gas for water heating, and it will also contribute to a reduced emission of gases.

The works are to be carried out over the next three years, in the summertime, the Commission says.
