Preparatory Works for Reconstruction of Crnaja Tunnel Connecting Sarajevo and Mostar Begin

The public company Ceste Federacije Bosne i Hercegovine have announced the beginning of preparatory works on the reconstruction of the Crnaja tunnel, on the main road Sarajevo-Mostar, for January 11.

After the contractor gets approval for the redirection of the traffic by the competent ministry, the traffic through the tunnel will be carried out in turns, on one traffic lane, and be regulated by light signalization. The public will be informed on time about the date when the traffic redirection is to take place.

– Considering the state of the Crnaja tunnel and the necessity of its reconstruction, and especially the safety of the participants in the traffic on this route, we appeal to people’s patience and maximum understanding of the necessity of the works to be done – the public company announced.

The director of Ceste FBiH, Ljubo Pravdic, says that all the activities have been launched to reduce the restrictions and disturbances in the normal flow of traffic to a minimum.

– We are aware that, due to the works on the reconstruction of the tunnel, the traffic down this section will be more difficult, but I am convinced that the safety of the participants in the traffic is what’s most important to us all. A further delay of the beginning of the works entails too many safety risks, because Crnaja has long since been recognized as one of the most critical points on roads in BiH. On our part, we will do everything we can so that the works are done as quickly as possible and at the optimal quality. We are especially dedicated to establishing a traffic regime which would entail a minimum of delays and a better flow on this section during the works – Pravdic pointed out.
