First Quantities of Gas from Bulgaria Flow through the New Serbian Gas Pipeline – Opening on January 1, 2021

The director of Srbijagas, Dusan Bajatovic, has stated that the first quantities of gas from Bulgaria have flown through the new Serbian gas pipeline, which is part of the Balkan Stream.

A total of 140,000 cubic meters of gas have been flown through the pipeline, Bajatovic says and emphasizes that it is now certain that the entire system is functioning properly.

A total of 13.88 billion cubic meters of gas will flow through Serbia at the entrance, and the quantity sufficient for the supply will remain in the country, Bajatovic says.

He says that, from January 1, the price of gas on the Bulgarian border, which is now USD 244, will be USD 155, that is, in the first two quarters of the upcoming year, the gas for domestic consumers at the entrance to Serbia will be cheaper by 60 to 90 dollars compared to the current price.

The gasification in Serbia will accelerate, Bajatovic emphasizes and adds that it would quickly happen in Leskovac, Gadzin Han, Vranje, Zajecar, Majdanpek, Bor, Kraljevo…

– We will finish everything – Bajatovic says and adds that a gas pipeline to Banjaluka is to be built as well.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic will open the new gas pipeline that goes through Serbia from the Bulgarian to the Hungarian border in Gospodjinci, Municipality of Zabalj, on January 1.

The length of the main gas pipeline in Serbia is 403 kilometers from the Bulgarian to the Hungarian border, that is, from Zajecar to Horgos.
